Under the 2017 F-PACE's aluminum skin is an alloy-intensive platform. That means it will have a longitudinally mounted engine and there is a good chance it may be rear-wheel drive only, although it will definitely be four-wheel drive. Jaguar's 340-horsepower 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 engine will be the initial top offering. The 90-degree V-6 will join a turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder. Both engines will connect to the eight-speed automatic transmission. Four-cylinder diesel engines won't make their debut in America just yet, but it is possible we'll be seeing them soon as well.

Industry gurus are expecting the F-PACE SUV to be available in the fall of 2016 as a 2017 model. The new F-PACE is also going to bring an array of technologies and amenities for drivers and passengers. It's equipped with a unique heads-up display that uses lasers. Most similar displays focus LCD screens on the windshield, but this Jaguar uses four different colored lasers to project a crisper, higher-contrast image. All the standard information is still available, including current speed and speed limit, cruise control and turn-by-turn directions. This is something drivers could use in the often hectic Chicago traffic.

If you're looking for a vehicle with some really unique features, the 2017 F-PACE will be right up your alley. There is an optional ($400) Activity Key that can be purchased with the vehicle. It's a waterproof wristband that looks like an activity monitor (think Fitbit). It acts as the SUV's secondary key fob. The main key fob will not start the engine while it is locked inside, and the wearer of the Activity Key can lock and unlock the car by tapping the 'J' on the F-PACE's tailgate.
