A New Off-Road Jaguar SUV Is Coming to Chicago

For some time, the hype and rumors of Jaguar coming out with a SUV has been building. It was just a matter of time and really figuring out what the customer wanted before it was time to move forward with a Jaguar Crossover or SUV. And it was difficult decision because both Jaguar and Land Rover/Range Rover have both been under the direction of India's Tata Motors.

A lot of people thought that if Jaguar made an off road vehicle that they might consume some of Range Rover's audience and customers. There is a slight difference though when you look at who buys and drives these off-roading vehicles. Land Rover/Range Rover has a more rugged, outdoor luxury feel whereas Jaguar has a more urban and classy backing behind it. How often are you going to see a hunting dog in a Jaguar, or a mudded up Jaguar driving through Illinois? Probably not too often.

To make sure they didn't steal Land Rover customers, Jaguar decided on a new SUV model called the F-PACE. They wanted something with an "X-name" but there is already a Jaguar X-Type line available - thus the "F-name" instead. According to Jaguar USA, this highly efficient five-seat performance crossover is based on the C-X17 Concept car which was revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013. As of early 2015, there isn't a lot more information about the price or engine information but we can bet that the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine will be one option. There isn't a set date to begin the sale of this SUV but we can expect something coming as early as the spring of 2016.
